BESydney, the business events arm of Australian city Sydney, says that it has secured the Australian edition of the internationally renowned Unbound Innovation series, “Converge AU”, which will take place in October 2022.

In a press release, Minister for Enterprise, Investment and Trade Stuart Ayres says that New South Wales has won the bid to host the globally recognised three-day innovation event designed to boost local and international trade and investment.

The Australian edition of the internationally renowned Unbound Innovation series, “Converge AU”, will draw innovative companies, brands and tech start-ups to Sydney and generate an expected AUD 4.9 million boost for the tourism industry, says Ayres.

“These festivals are a global series of events connecting brands and corporations with startups to learn more about the latest offerings in cutting-edge technologies,” Ayres says.

“By hosting Australia’s first Converge AU event we are building on the significant support we have already provided to growing international business opportunities, showcasing local expertise globally and promoting skilled migration to New South Wales,’’ he adds.

The three-day event is expected to bring in 3,000 innovators from across the globe to forge new relationships, promote investment and create new business opportunities.

Sydney won the competitive bid due to the strength of the local start-up and innovation ecosystem, says BESSydney CEO Lyn Lewis-Smith. “The momentum of Sydney’s tech scene right now combined with the growing presence of world-leading talent and research breakthroughs at our leading institutions positions Sydney as an attractive destination for international delegates to learn, collaborate and do business,” Lewis-Smith says.

Founder and CEO of Converge AU Daniel Seal says Converge is looking forward to delivering the first Australian event. “We operate in leading global cities and partner with forward thinking governments like the NSW Government and trade agencies to deliver our unique innovation festivals and are excited to deliver Converge AU in Sydney in 2022 and beyond,” Seal said. Converge AU will take place at the International Convention Centre Sydney October 26 – 28.
