Namaste Thailand Festival stages a comeback in New Delhi

Namaste Thailand Festival returns after a 3-year hiatus due to Covid-19, from Mar 24-26 at Select Citywalk mall in New Delhi

The Namaste Thailand Festival has returned after a three-year absence brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic. The event will be held in Select Citywalk mall in New Delhi, from March 24-26, and is being organised by the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi in association with the Tourist Authority of Thailand and a number of other partners.

According to a press statement, guests can expect some authentic Thai cuisine and beverages from seven renowned Thai restaurants in Delhi and nearby areas. They can also stroll around many of the stalls and enjoy shopping various kinds of products from Thailand such as kitchenware, ceramics, herbal balm, accessories, clothing lines, food items and jewellery, adds the statement.

The organisers say that visitors can also take part in and enjoy events taking place on stage, such as a cookery demonstration by the Thai Ambassador to India, who will demonstrate how to create the renowned Som Tum or Thai papaya salad. The International Institute of Culinary Arts staff will provide competitors with detailed instructions for producing a Thai dish in the cooking competition that follows.

The statement adds that Indian athletes from the United Muaythai Association – India (UMAI) will showcase a Muay Thai demonstration on stage. Furthermore, any visitors can showcase their knowledge about Thailand by participating in the fun Namaste Thailand Flash Quizzes and win gifts from Thailand.

The organisers add that Ma Kao Hang will fly in from Kalasin province in the Northeast of Thailand to showcase Thai-traditional and classical music. Their uniqueness and musical talents in fusing Isan (Northeastern region of Thailand) traditional instruments with other musical instruments will surely entertain and make the evening memorable for everyone, says the statement.
