Also dubbed the ‘Summer of Infrastructure,’ plans for 522 projects have been announced by officials

With barely seven months to go before it hosts Super Bowl LIX, one of the biggest sporting events in the United States, New Orleans has announced a major infrastructure upgradation programme, with as many as 522 projects to be completed by February 2025.

In preparation for the upcoming popular sporting competition, Super Bowl LIX, that will be held in February 2025,  New Orleans in Louisiana has announced a major infrastructure development plan and has officially kicked off the ‘Summer of Super Bowl’, which enlists all the major projects as part of the preparations.

According to a press statement issued by New Orleans Company, the destination marketing organisation of New Orleans, Governor of Louisiana Jeff Landry, Mayor of New Orleans LaToya Cantrell and Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser, along with the Super Bowl Host Committee, Saints Owner Gayle Benson, and the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, have announced ambitious infrastructure projects for significant enhancements to the city as part of the preparations for the upcoming, record-tying 11th Super Bowl in New Orleans.

The statement adds that also dubbed the ‘Summer of Infrastructure’, Michael Hecht, President and CEO of Greater New Orleans, announced plans for 522 projects, ranging from relighting the Crescent City Connection and installing 5G towers to fixing sidewalks and enhancing green spaces. Some of these projects, already underway, aim to beautify, improve and modernise the city and benefit the residents of New Orleans for years to come.  

According to the statement, at the launch, NFL Executive Peter O’Reilly highlighted the city’s unique vibrancy, culture, and compactness, making it an ideal venue for games such as the Super Bowl. President of local team, the New Orleans Saints Dennis Lauscha, also emphasised the game’s economic importance concerning new opportunities that will improve the city in the long run. He added that this year’s pre-game preparations will unite a diverse set of public, private, and non-profit partners. 

According to the statement, New Orleans is set to tie with Miami for hosting the most number of Super Bowls, with its 11th event and the upcoming being the eighth to be held at the iconic Caesars Superdome. 

New Orleans in Louisiana, alongside the upcoming Super Bowl, offers the perfect opportunity for a vacation with a unique blend of diverse neighbourhoods, rich cuisine, and vibrant festivals, all easily accessible via the well-connected Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, says the statement by the Destination Marketing Organisation.
