To highlight and celebrate its rich culinary heritage to the world, Puerto Rico will host the inaugural Puerto Rico Wine & Food Festival from April 3 to 6, 2025.

According to a press statement by the organisers, Puerto Rico Tourism Company and entrepreneur Robert Weakley, this landmark event will showcase the island’s vibrant food and beverage scene, offering an immersive four-day experience for food lovers, chefs, sommeliers, and tastemakers.

To be held at San Juan’s iconic La Concha Resort, the festival promises to unite top national and local culinary talents, as well as wineries and mixologists, the statement says.

It adds that Chef Mario Pagán, one of Puerto Rico’s most celebrated culinary figures, will serve as the festival’s host chef, guiding attendees through curated gourmet experiences, wine tastings, and activities such as golf and pickleball tournaments.

“This festival will put the spotlight on one of the world’s most vibrant and growing food and beverage scenes. We are so proud to work with Puerto Rico’s great culinary talent, led by Chef Pagán, as well as community and business leaders who are reinforcing it as a premier destination for food and culture. We can’t wait for everyone to join us from April 3 to 6, 2025, for this extraordinary experience,” says Weakley.

The organisers say that in addition to promoting Puerto Rico’s diverse cuisine, the festival aims to stimulate the local economy by featuring locally sourced products, such as Puerto Rican coffee and artisanal goods.

The statement adds that the festival’s community impact will extend through Puerto Rico Eats for Good, a charitable initiative providing culinary education and mentorship to local students. This programme will offer scholarships, career development opportunities, and hands-on experience working alongside renowned chefs.

“The Puerto Rico Tourism Company is constantly looking for strategic partnerships and events that will enable us to position the island as the ideal destination for those who seek diverse and vibrant locations, whether for leisure or for business,” says Carlos Mercado Santiago, Executive Director, Puerto Rico Tourism Company.

“Gastronomy is an intrinsic part of our culture, and Puerto Rico Wine and Food Festival will provide the perfect venue to showcase the fusion of cultures that have created our creative and elevated gastronomic scene, as well as the attractions, locations and unique qualities that make Puerto Rico a renowned world-class destination,” Santiago adds.
