Vietnam Golf Tourism Association and a Vietnamese newspaper Kinh te & Do thi have joined hands to jointly organise the first Hanoi Golf & Cultural Exchange Week 2022, which will take place from October 17-23 at the prestigious BRG King’s Island Golf Resort, also known as the Dong Mo Golf Course, in Hanoi.

In a press release, the organisers say that the Hanoi Golf & Cultural Exchange Week 2022 aims to stimulate tourism, foster local socio-economic development, and promote the golf movement in the community.

At a press conference to announce the event, Nguyen Minh Duc, editor-in-chief of Kinh Te Do Thi newspaper, said the idea of linking golf with tourism had received enthusiastic support from the municipal government and local businesses.

“Hanoi Golf & Cultural Exchange Week 2022 is organised to foster the development of tourism in the capital city after the Covid-19 pandemic, thereby contributing to promoting the economic recovery in the locality,” he said at the press conference, adding that the activity could become an annual event in Hanoi.

During the week, besides golf competitions, various activities will also be organised, including the Golf Equipment Exhibition, the Golf Fashion Show, a seminar on special consumption tax on golf courses with the participation of businesses, and a cultural exchange event between local and international golfers, the organisers told the press briefing.

One of the early signs of success of the event is that over 400 local and international golfers have already signed up to participate in the event, say the organisers, adding that besides the local Vietnamese golfers, the event has attracted golfers from Thailand and Singapore and also of the various diplomatic missions based in Hanoi.

Besides the participating golfers, the organisers say they will also invite a number of representatives from various international travel agencies. They will come to experience the numerous golf courses and tourism infrastructure around Hanoi and the surrounding localities, with the ultimate aim of affirming that the country represents a ‘paradise’ for golfers, they say.

Held within the framework of the event, a number of golf tourism promotion activities are set to take place, including golf tours in Hanoi Ha Nam, Vinh Phuc, and Hoa Binh.

The organisers say that visitors from Europe, Japan, and the Republic of Korea coming to Vietnam to play golf from October to March next year can partly offset the off-peak season of several northern provinces.

The organisers say that Hanoi is home to seven high-class golf courses, which have received numerous compliments from golfers, including Long Bien Golf Course, BRG Kings’ Island Golf Resort, Van Tri Golf Club, Legend Hill Golf Resort, and Hanoi Golf Club, among others. In clear sign of focus on developing golf tourism as a major attraction, Hanoi City officials expect to add 10 more golf courses by the end of this year.

According to reports, it is estimated that by 2025 there will be about 300,000 golfers in Vietnam, which is considered a favorable condition for golf tourism in Vietnam to take off soon.
