With arrival of 10 cruise ships from different parts of the world on the same day, Miami Port has set a record of sorts for itself and global cruise industry.

According to the Miami Port Authority, the port, which is the busiest cruise port in the world and is also called the ‘cruise capital of the world’, saw a hectic schedule of arrivals over the weekend.

It says it received Carnival Magic and Carnival Sunrise, both ships belonging to Carnival Cruises as well as two ships of Norwegian Cruise Lines, the Norwegian Escape and the Norwegian Gem. Also arriving at the port were Icon of the Seas and Independence of the Seas, both ships of Royal Caribbean International and Sirena of Oceania Cruises, Zaandam of Holland America Lines as well as Scarlet Lady of Virgin Voyages. The arrival of MSC Seascape completed the 10 ships to dock at the port on the weekend.

Meanwhile, the opening of the new MSC Miami Cruise Terminal, which is a state-of-the-art facility, marks a major milestone for the cruise industry, as the terminal is now the largest in the world, capable of hosting three ships simultaneously and accommodating up to 36,000 passengers daily.

The statement adds that massive infrastructure project is a collaboration between the Cruise Division of MSC Group, PortMiami and Miami-Dade County. The terminal’s striking design is the work of Arquitectonica, with construction handled by Fincantieri Infrastructure.

MSC Cruises says that looking ahead, it plans to homeport four ships at the new terminal throughout 2025, alongside vessels from its luxury sister brand, Explora Journeys. The Italian-owned company’s presence in Miami signals its continued commitment to strengthening its ties to South Florida’s bustling cruise industry and expanding its overall footprint in the United States market.

MSC Cruises adds that it will also celebrate the launch of its newest World Class ship, MSC World America at the terminal in April. The occasion will feature a grand naming ceremony and an inaugural sailing. Once in service, MSC World America will offer seven-night itineraries exploring both the Eastern and Western Caribbean, all departing from Miami’s cutting-edge new terminal.
