United Airlines is focussing on developing new overseas routes
American carrier United Airlines, has unveiled its most extensive international expansion yet as the airline is set to introduce service to eight new cities, significantly enhancing global connectivity and providing travellers with more diverse options.
In a press statement, United Airlines says that in May 2025, it will launch five new nonstop flights from its Newark/New York hub to unique destinations not served by any other US airline, including Nuuk in Greenland, Palermo in Italy, Bilbao in Spain and Madeira and Faro in Portugal.
The airline says that it will also introduce three new nonstop routes from Washington DC/Dulles, featuring its first-ever year-round flight to Dakar in Senegal, along with new seasonal nonstop flights to Nice in France and Venice in Italy.
The airline adds that United’s summer 2025 transatlantic schedule will be its largest ever, featuring over 760 weekly flights. It says that customers will enjoy earlier start dates for flights to Venice, Athens and Barcelona. The airline will also increase direct flights from Newark/New York to Palma de Mallorca in Spain, Dubrovnik in Croatia and Athens, the capital of Greece.
United says that it is also introducing new direct flights from Tokyo-Narita in Japan to Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia, and Kaohsiung in Taiwan, destinations not served by any other US airline as well as a nonstop flight to Koror in Palau in the Pacific. These flights will seamlessly connect in Tokyo to United’s transpacific services to five US hub locations.
The company says it will serve five destinations in Italy, beginning May 21 with flights to Palermo, and will offer nonstop service to Bilbao in Spain, starting May 31.
