Flag carrier of Türkiye, Turkish Airlines, has expanded its Stopover in Istanbul programme, offering longer complimentary hotel stays for passengers from more countries, enhancing layover experiences and showcasing Istanbul's iconic landmarks and culture.

Turkish Airlines, the flag carrier of Türkiye, has announced an expansion of its Stopover in Istanbul programme.

In a press statement, the carrier said that this initiative, which allows passengers with long layovers to explore Istanbul with complimentary hotel stays, now includes more departure countries, offering travellers an enhanced opportunity to experience the city’s unique charm.

The statement adds business class passengers will enjoy a three-night stay at 5-star hotels, while Economy Class travellers can now benefit from a two-night stay at 4-star hotels, an increase from the previous two and one-night stays, respectively.

The airline says that this extended accommodation is currently available to passengers travelling from select destinations, including Australia, Canada, Chile, China Mainland from airports at Shanghai (PVG), Guangzhou (CAN) and Beijing (PEK), Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, and the United States.

The statement adds that the Turkish Airlines plans to further expand the program throughout 2025 by adding 15 more destinations.

The airline says that since its launch in 2017, the Stopover in Istanbul programme has provided over 221,389 transit passengers from 91 countries and 235 cities with the chance to explore Istanbul’s rich history and vibrant culture.

Moreover, the eligible passengers with layovers of 20 hours or more can request complimentary accommodation at least 72 hours before their flight.
