Turkish Airlines carried 7.2 million passengers in May 2024

Cargo carried during the period of May 2024 increased by 28.8 pc to 174,400 tonnes from 135,400 tonnes

Turkish Airlines says that with 7.2 million passengers in May, it has increased its capacity by 7.3 pc in terms of available seat kilometres when compared to May, 2023. For the first five months of the year, the airline has carried 32.8 million passengers.

Turkish Airlines, the flag carrier of Türkiye, says that with an increase in its capacity, it carried 7.2 million passengers in May this year. The international load factor was 79.3 pc and domestic load factor of 84.2 pc.

According to a press statement by the airline, it has increased its capacity by 7.3 pc in terms of Available Seat Kilometres (ASK) to 21.3 billion during the period of May 2024 compared to 19.9 billion for the same period of 2023.

The airline says that the number of international-to-international transfer passengers increased by 3.6 pc from 2.4 million in May, 2023 to 2.5 million in the same period in 2024.

It adds that cargo carried during the period of May 2024 increased by 28.8 pc to 174,400 tonnes from 135,400 tonnes in the same period of 2023.

According to the airline, from January to May 2024, the total number of passengers carried by it increased by 5.7 pc to 32.8 million compared to the same period of 2023.

The airline says that the number of international-to-international passengers carried increased by 7 pc to 12.6 million in January-May 2024, from 11.8 million in the same period of 2023. Total load factor decreased by 0.8 points to 80.4 pc compared to the same period of 2023. International load factor was 80 pc while domestic load factor was 83.8 pc, it adds.

The statement adds that ASK for the period January-May 2024 increased by 10.8 pc to 100 billion from 90.3 billion for the same period of 2023. Cargo carried during this period increased by 33.7 pc to 814,700 tonnes from 609,200 tonnes in the same period of 2023 and its total fleet size stood at 456 aircraft.
