SriLankan Airlines operates daily flights between Colombo and Melbourne
SriLankan Airlines, the national carrier of Sri Lanka, has celebrated the seventh anniversary of its Melbourne-Colombo route, which was launched in 2017 and which has emerged amongst the best performing ones for the airline.
In a press statement, SriLankan says that over the years, the service has strengthened connections for Sri Lankan expatriates and students in Melbourne, while also offering travel options for tourists journeying between Melbourne, Sri Lanka, and popular destinations across India and beyond.

The airline states that travellers visiting friends and relatives or vacationing between Australia and South Asia, owing to a steady growth in tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka. The route is also a popular choice for travellers, especially Indians.

The statement adds that the Melbourne-Colombo route is one of top performers for SriLankan Airlines, both as a direct flight and a convenient connection. The airline currently operates Airbus A330-300 and 200 series aircraft on the route, where flights UL604 and UL605 currently operate a daily service between Colombo and Melbourne.

The statement adds that SriLankan Airlines also supports events organised by Sri Lankan expatriate organisations, as well as sponsored of major sporting events in Australia, such as the ‘Melbourne Half Marathon’ and the ‘Great Ocean Road Running Festival’ to boost brand visibility. The sponsorships are part of the airlines’ broader strategy to foster connections within the local community and support events that resonate with both Sri Lankan and Australian cultures.
The airline has also collaborated with ‘Invest Victoria’ to strengthen its ties with the state government, furthering its mission to promote tourism and cultural exchange.
