Low-cost Indian carrier SpiceJet has announced that it will launch daily non-stop Delhi-Kathmandu flights from May 10, expanding its international network for the first time since fresh injection of cash, enhancing connectivity between India and Nepal.

SpiceJet, third-largest low-cost carrier in India, has announced the launch of its daily direct flights between Delhi and Kathmandu, set to take off from May 10.

In a press statement, SpiceJet says that this step marks a significant milestone for the airline, as Kathmandu becomes SpiceJet’s first new international destination since its successful Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP).

The statement adds that the new route, operated by a Boeing 737, will see Flight SG 41 depart Delhi at 08:10, landing in Kathmandu at 09:55. On the return leg, SG 42, will leave Kathmandu at 10:55 and arrive in Delhi at 13:10.

According to the statement, SpiceJet’s new service promises to enhance connectivity, making it easier than ever for Indian travellers to explore Nepal’s rich cultural heritage, while also offering Nepalese passengers seamless links to Delhi and beyond, including Dubai and Bangkok.

SpiceJet says that since raising INR 30 billion through its QIP, the airline has rapidly grown its domestic network, adding cities like Shivamogga, Tuticorin, Porbandar and Dehradun and reviving routes to Gorakhpur.

According to the statement, backed by multiple credit rating upgrades and a recent INR 2.94 billion infusion from promoter Ajay Singh, SpiceJet has reinforced its financial and operational stability, paving the way for new international ventures.
