Ontario International Airport projects 2.2 million passengers for summer travel season

2.85 million airline seats to be provided by Ontario International Airport

Ontario International Airport in California expects 2.22 million passengers during the summer travel season, marking a 1.7 pc increase from 2024.

Ontario International Airport in California expects around 2.2 million passengers during the peak summer season, reflecting a 1.7 pc increase from 2024. The airport will add services to 12 domestic and international destinations.

In a press statement, Ontario International Airport says the summer season, beginning on May 23, will provide 2.85 million airline seats, a 3.4 pc increase compared to last year. Additionally, passenger volumes are projected to reach 663,959 in June, 672,034 in July, and 671,274 in August.

It adds that the airline will operate new, resumed, or increased services on several routes during the summer season. Domestic routes will include daily services to Baltimore/Washington (BWI) by Southwest Airlines starting on June 5, and to Chicago O’Hare (ORD), which will be operated by United Airlines from May 22.

American Airlines will increase its flights to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) to seven flights daily while Frontier Airlines will operate the same route six times a week. JetBlue will resume daily service to New York (JFK) from April 30. Southwest Airlines will increase its daily flights to Sacramento (SMF) from five to seven. Delta Air Lines will operate four daily flights to Salt Lake City (SLC), which is up from three. Seattle (SEA) will be served by Alaska Airlines with five daily flights, while Delta Air Lines will operate four daily flights and Frontier Airlines with one daily service.

According to the press statement, Ontario International Airport says that approximately 77.8 pc of available seats are expected to be occupied.

The airport will also offer features such as ride-share curbside access, aspire lounges, 3-sixty duty-free shopping and an on-site parking with pre-booking discounts.

As per a press statement, California airport says that real ID’s of compliant driver’s licenses will be required from May 7.
