Norse Atlantic Airways, a low-cost carrier based at Arendal in Norway, is set to launch its first flights from Sweden, with a non-stop Stockholm-Bangkok route.
In a press statement, the airline says that launching in winter 2025, the twice-weekly service will operate on Wednesday and Sunday from October 29, 2025, with one-way fares starting from SEK 2,550 (EUR 221).
Stockholm-Bangkok route is the low-cost carrier’s second route to Thailand’s capital, following the launch of flights between Oslo in Norway and Bangkok last winter.
Incidentally, just days earlier British Airways had relaunched flights to Bangkok after a four-year hiatus, with flights departing from Gatwick rather than Heathrow.
“There is great confidence in the Swedish air travel market and Norse’s investment in a direct route from Stockholm Arlanda Airport to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International is a clear sign of this. Norse will play an important role in connecting Sweden to Thailand. Swedavia’s main goal is to increase the connectivity, and this addition to the airports overall offer further facilitates for people to meet, whether it is for business, leisure or to visit family and friends,” Jonas Abrahamsson, President and CEO, Swedavia that owns and operates of Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
Last month Norse Atlantic had announced a new route between Rome and Los Angeles for summer 2025. The thrice-weekly service will launch on May 22, 2025 next year, and will compete with ITA Airways’ existing year-round service between the two cities.
Norse says it specialises in low-cost, long-haul, direct flights to a range of destinations on the intercontinental market. Norse Atlantic fleet includes 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners that serve destinations including New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami, Orlando, Bangkok, Cape Town, Oslo, Athens, London, Berlin, Rome and Paris. The company’s first flight took off from Oslo to New York on June 14, 2022.
