India’s largest airline, low-cost carrier IndiGo has announced new direct flights between several Indian and Middle Eastern cities. In a press statement, IndiGo says that the newly introduced routes include Bengaluru-Dubai, Kochi-Bahrain, Lucknow-Dammam commencing from June 1 and Ahmedabad-Jeddah, effective from August 11.

In light of the increased demand for travel to the Middle East from India during the summer, the airline has also announced seasonal additional flights between Chennai-Dammam and Kochi-Dammam. IndiGo will be the first airline in India to run direct flights between Bengaluru and Dubai and Kochi and Bahrain.

It will also be the only airline to offer daily direct service between Kochi and Dammam, Lucknow to Dammam, Chennai to Dammam, and Ahmedabad to Jeddah, which would save travel time, says the statement.

It adds that at the moment, IndiGo connects travellers to 11 Middle Eastern cities, including Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Dammam, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait, Ras Al Khaimah, Riyadh, Sharjah, and Muscat. During the summer vacations, the addition of these new flights will increase capacity and improve accessibility for travellers going to and coming from the Middle East.
