IndiGo Boeing 787-9 services will feature IndiGoStretch
India’s largest carrier, IndiGo, is set to launch wide-body Boeing 787-9 operations with flights on the Delhi-Bangkok route starting March 1.
In a press statement, the airline says that this strategic expansion comes as part of IndiGo’s broader internationalisation strategy, leveraging a temporarily leased aircraft from Norse Atlantic ahead of its own XLR and A350 deliveries in the coming years.
“As India’s aviation sector undergoes rapid transformation, to keep pace with unprecedented growth in demand for travel, IndiGo is well-positioned to lead this expansion. The early induction of our wide body aircraft marks a significant milestone in our journey. Starting between Delhi and Bangkok, we intend to shift to Europe from mid-summer,” says Pieter Elbers, CEO, IndiGo.

The low-cost carrier says that the new service will feature IndiGoStretch, a premium product offering enhanced comfort and amenities.
“We are thrilled to introduce the comfort of IndiGoStretch on our regional international route, after the positive and encouraging feedback domestically. Our roots and fundamentals are Indian but increasingly, the world is where we operate,” adds Elbers.
Indigo says that passengers can enjoy meals crafted by Oberoi Catering Services and beverages from Sula Vineyards, to promote Indian brands internationally.
“As a proud Indian brand IndiGo believes in great Indian brands supporting each other in going global. In line with our promise of India by IndiGo, we are committed to partner with the best-in-class Indian brands such as the Oberoi Catering Services, Sula and others for extending premium services to IndiGoStretch customers,” says Elbers.
The statement adds that IndiGoStretch customers will benefit from priority services, additional baggage allowance, and zero convenience fees. Bookings for these flights are now available on IndiGo’s platforms and aggregator websites.
