Largest airline in India, IndiGo has announced direct flights from Chennai to Penang starting December 21.

As the only airline operating this route, IndiGo’s direct service from Chennai to Penang will offer travellers a faster, more convenient option, cutting travel time from seven hours to just four. Chennai will also serve as a gateway for travellers from Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai heading to Penang.

In a press statement, IndiGo says that Penang will be its third direct destination in Malaysia, and 37th international destination overall. In addition to Penang, IndiGo operates flights to Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi in Malaysia.

India is the fifth-largest source market for Malaysia, and these new routes will further boost both economic and cultural exchange, it adds.

Flight 6E 1045 will leave Chennai daily at 02:15, reaching Penang the same day at 08:30 and on the return leg, flight 6E 1046 will leave Penang at 09:30 and reach Chennai at 10:35 the same day.
