IndiGo says that it is the first airline to operate direct flights on the Tiruchirappalli-Jaffna route
In a significant move to enhance connectivity between India and Sri Lanka, IndiGo has announced daily direct flights between Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, and Jaffna in starting March 30, offering travellers a convenient and affordable option to explore the historical and economic links between the two regions.
In a press statement, IndiGo says that it is the first airline to operate direct flights on the Tiruchirappalli-Jaffna route. It adds that the new route addresses growing demand and offers more options for business and leisure travellers between the two regions.

IndiGo says that the daily flights will ease travel and boost economic and cultural ties between the two regions.
It adds that Tiruchirappalli is a key industrial and educational hub in Tamil Nadu, with significant religious and historical landmarks. Jaffna, known for its Tamil heritage, features historical sites such as Jaffna Fort and Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil.
