IndiGo appoints Rashmi Soni as VP Corporate Communications

Former Vice President of PayU, a digital payments company, Rashmi Soni, has recently joined IndiGo, India’s largest airline, as Vice President of Corporate Communication.

Rashmi Soni, a recipient of the ‘Iconic Women Leaders Award in Corporate Communications’ and a veteran in the field, has joined IndiGo, one of the fastest-growing low-cost air carriers in the world, as its Vice President Corporate Communications.

In a press statement, IndiGo says that Soni, who was most recently the Vice President of Corporate Communications at PayU, a Netherlands-based payment service provider, is joining the airline as the Vice President of Corporate Communication under the Media & PR division, succeeding Chhavi Leekha.

The statement adds that having spent six years with the airline company in the position of Vice President, Leekha served as the company’s anchor in various situations, including during the challenging phase of Covid-19, when the world was experiencing lockdown.

Appreciating her contribution, Pieter Elbers, CEO, IndiGo praised Leekha for her extensive dedication towards the company.

“I would like to express my appreciation for Leekha for her work, commitment, and dedication on Corporate & Brand Communication past years contributing to the incredible journey of IndiGo,” says Elbers.

Meanwhile, with 28 years of experience across various multinational companies such as Vistara, Adobe, Tata Teleservices, Ericsson, and Hughes Software Systems (now Aricent), where she held prestigious positions, Soni, a Stanford-certified manager, was highly praised by Elbers for her extensive experience.

“I warmly welcome Rashmi to the IndiGo family. We look forward to leveraging her rich professional experience to help further take IndiGo into our ambitious next phase of becoming a global aviation player,” adds Elders.

Expressing her enthusiasm for her new role, Soni shared her passion for the aviation industry, while joining Indigo and has thanked the company for the incredible opportunity.
