Fiji’s national airline, Fiji Airways has bolstered its fleet with the addition of two new ATR 72-600 aircraft, marking a significant step towards enhancing regional connectivity and meeting growing demand.

In a press statement, Fiji Airways says the two ATR 72-600 aircraft, each with a seating capacity of 68, will primarily serve regional routes, including those connecting Fiji’s Northern and Western divisions.

It adds that the first of its new ATRs arrived on December 29, 2024, followed by the second on January 5.

It further adds that the new ATRs will be deployed on various routes to enhance domestic connectivity across Fiji, including regional routes such as Nadi-Tongatapu, Nadi-Vava’u, Suva-Funafuti and Nadi-Funafuti, Nadi-Port Vila, as well as other domestic routes.

Fiji Airways says that additional ATR aircraft will be introduced to boost capacity and increase service frequency on key domestic routes like Nadi-Suva and Labasa.

It adds that this expansion will enhance connectivity across Fiji’s regional network and align with the airline’s strategy to strengthen the airline’s hub in Nadi and improve travel options, especially for passengers connecting between domestic and international flights.

The statement adds that Fiji Link, the domestic and regional subsidiary of Fiji Airways, is launching new uniforms for its staff, now aligned with the signature Fiji Airways uniform.

It adds that the new uniforms will reflect the vibrant, modern image of Fiji Airways while incorporating Fiji Link’s cultural heritage.

Fiji Airways says that this change aims to create a cohesive visual identity for all staff, from front-line to cabin crew, and supports the airline’s strategy to improve customer experience and enhance its overall brand image.

Andre Viljoen

“These two new ATR aircraft are a significant investment in Fiji’s domestic connectivity. They are an important part of our commitment to providing comfortable and efficient travel options for our passengers and offering greater connectivity between our islands. This fleet expansion will also help us continue to meet the growing demand for domestic travel, ensuring that we can provide increased capacity where it’s needed most,” says Andre Viljoen, CEO and Managing Director, Fiji Airways.

“We are excited to introduce our new Fiji Link uniforms, which bring us closer to our goal of a unified brand. The standardisation of our uniforms across Fiji Airways and Fiji Link reflects our ongoing commitment to excellence and professionalism, ensuring that our crew represents the highest standards of service, and our passengers enjoy a seamless, consistent experience,” Viljoen adds.
