Emirates plans to deploy its upgraded Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 cabins to 44 cities by September
In a significant move to enhance its global services, Dubai’s flagship carrier Emirates is expanding its retrofitted Boeing 777 operations to eight more destinations. As part of its ongoing fleet upgrade, the airline is rolling out a fully refurbished aircraft every three weeks, introducing upgraded cabins with improved Business and Premium Economy seating to key international routes.
In a press statement Emirates says that it plans to deploy its upgraded Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 cabins to 44 cities by September.
It adds that the latest cities to receive the upgraded Boeing 777 include Lisbon, Dublin, Hong Kong, Malé, Kolkata, Colombo, Johannesburg and Cape Town.
Emirates says that these aircraft feature Emirates’ latest four-class configuration, including Premium Economy and an enhanced Business Class.
It adds that from June 1, all flights operating to and from Lisbon will feature the upgraded cabins. Dublin will receive Emirates’ latest Business and Premium Economy seats starting June 25. Hong Kong will become the second Chinese destination to be served with the refurbished Boeing 777, scheduled from 15 July.
The statement adds that the passengers travelling to Malé will experience the enhanced interiors from June 1, with additional flights receiving the upgrade from July 15.
It adds that Kolkata will see the retrofitted Boeing 777 operate from August 10, with four weekly flights on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Emirates says that Colombo will receive the upgraded aircraft on daily flights from August 10 while as Johannesburg will be served with Premium Economy and an improved Business Class for the first time, with daily flights from September 1 from September 25.
It adds that Cape Town will follow with the upgraded Boeing 777 on daily service from September 20. In addition, Emirates will introduce a second daily service to London Stansted with its refreshed Boeing 777 cabins from June 1.
It adds that the fleet refurbishment is part of a USD 5 billion investment by Emirates, covering over 220 aircraft in what is one of the aviation industry’s largest retrofit programs. The upgraded Boeing 777s feature a 1-2-1 Business Class layout, 24 Premium Economy seats, and 260 Economy Class seats, aimed at enhancing passenger experience across key international routes.
