With the objective of tapping the booming Indian outbound travel market and growing bilateral ties between Egypt and India, EgyptAir, the national airline of the Arab country plans to enhance the frequency of its services to Delhi, from four times a week currently to a daily service.

This was announced by Amr Aly, Country Manager of EgyptAir, at a trade event held in Delhi, where he spoke of the growing interest of the airline in the Indian market and its future plans in the world’s most-populated country, which has a booming economy and a rapidly growing outbound travel market.

EgyptAir had launched the Cairo-Delhi flights in August 2023 and Aly said that the response has been extremely encouraging.

“Since the launch of the direct flight last year, we have witnessed a notable increase in travel, business, and cultural exchanges between Egypt and India. This move to daily flights is set to further augment these ties,” said Aly.

He added that since the launch of EgyptAir flights between Cairo and Delhi, he has witnessed a significant number of passengers who head to Egypt for business and commercial reasons, while there is also a significant demand from outbound travellers from India to explore Egypt.

Amr Aly said that the airline will also monitor the demand from other cities and add look at starting flights to other destinations

Beyond increasing the frequencies on Delhi and Mumbai flights, Aly said that the airline will also monitor the demand from other cities and add look at starting flights to other destinations. “We will continuously work with our teams here and see the feasibility of adding destinations in south India, like Chennai or Bengaluru,’’ Aly added.

He said that the Cairo-Delhi route is operated by the state-of-the-art Airbus A320neo aircraft. EgyptAir’s fleet includes eight A320neos, with an average age of just 1.8 years, ensuring a modern and efficient travel experience. Additionally, the airline’s fleet boasts six Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, with two more expected in the coming years.

The new A320neo aircraft are expected to reduce fuel consumption by approximately 20 pc compared to previous generation aircraft, while EgyptAir’s current fleet reduces emissions by 60 pc. This commitment to sustainability reflects EgyptAir’s dedication to environmentally responsible operations.

This expansion aligns with the African nation’s Ministry of Civil Aviation’s directives to enhance Egypt’s connectivity with the world through Cairo’s hub. EgyptAir, Africa’s oldest carrier, recently celebrated its 92nd anniversary, marking nearly a century of exceptional air travel services.

“To express our appreciation to our trade partners and esteemed customers, EgyptAir will introduce exciting initiatives and promotions, including special fares and enhanced onboard services. We are committed to ensuring an unforgettable travel experience for our passengers as we embark on the next phase of our remarkable journey,” Aly added.
