Having finished the year 2024 as the world’s busiest international airport, the Dubai International Airport (DXB) has resumed the year 2025 on an equally strong footing as the airport is on track to welcome 4.3 million guests in the first 15 days of the year, setting the stage for its busiest January yet.

In a press statement, the airport operator says that daily traffic is projected to peak on January 3, with over 311,000 passengers expected. It says that with an average of 287,000 travellers passing through daily during this period, which is 8 pc higher than the same period in 2024 and 6 pc higher than pre-pandemic levels in 2018-19, DXB is operating at volumes akin to its busiest months ever, demonstrating its ability to meet global travel demand with efficiency and ease.

The statement adds that the exceptional performance reflects a surge in international visitors flying out after the festive season, coupled with residents returning from holidays. As the world’s leading airport for international passengers, DXB remains a global benchmark for operational excellence, offering seamless connectivity and an unmatched guest experience on an extraordinary scale.

According to OAG, an aviation industry tracker, with 5.28 million seats on scheduled flights in December 2024, Dubai International Airport (DXB) became the world’s busiest airport again, pushing Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) to the second spot, with its 5.23 million scheduled seat capacity.
