Dubai International Airport (DXB), the world’s busiest international airport, is expecting a surge in traffic this week as it prepares to handle over 2.5 million passengers from February 20-28.

In a press statement, the airport operator says that the surge in passenger traffic, averaging 280,000 passengers daily and peaking at 295,000 on February 22, is attributed to a combination of global events and school holidays in key markets, marking one of the busiest times in the airport’s history. According to the statement, the airport operator has urged passengers to use Dubai Metro to and from the airport and between Terminals 1 and 3.

The airport authority says the Arrivals bus stop at Terminal 1 will be out of service starting February 21, prompting travellers to check alternative transport options and updated bus schedules on the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) website.

The statement also adds that the collaborative efforts of the oneDXB community, which includes airport teams and stakeholders, are focussed on maintaining seamless operations during this peak period.
