Codeshare agreement allows Air India to place its ‘AI’ code on Virgin Australia flights
Air India and Virgin Australia have announced a new codeshare partnership that enhances travel connectivity between India and Australia.
According to the press statement, the agreement allows Air India to place its ‘AI’ code on Virgin Australia flights. The statement adds that this codeshare partnership will facilitate seamless travel for passengers from Delhi to major Australian cities including Melbourne and Sydney which currently operates 14 weekly flights from India to Australia using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

As per the statement, Air India will operate codeshare flights to 16 cities, such as Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Canberra, Darwin, Gold Coast and Hobart, on the Virgin Australia network in Australia and New Zealand.

Additionally, codeshare bookings have already started from February 11, with the first flights under this arrangement set to operate on February 18.
