Air India Express, a low-cost subsidiary of Air India, has announced its expansion plans in South East Asia with the launch of direct flights to Bangkok, capital of Thailand, from Amritsar and Lucknow.
In a press statement, the airline announced that it is offering special inaugural fares, with ‘Xpress Value’ fares starting at INR 10,900 and ‘Xpress Lite’ fares at INR 10,400 on the Amritsar-Bangkok route, and ‘Xpress Value’ fares starting at INR 10,000 and ‘Xpress Lite’ fares at INR 9,500 on the Lucknow-Bangkok route.
“With the launch of direct flights from Amritsar and Lucknow to Bangkok, Air India Express further strengthens its strong presence in Southeast Asia, complementing its well-established Singapore routes that connect four key airports in South India. The statement adds that the airline will operate tri-weekly flights from Amritsar starting from December 27 and from Lucknow from December 28. Air India Express also highlighted Bangkok as a new destination in its rapidly expanding network, announcing three weekly flights from Pune and four weekly flights from Surat to Bangkok, last week.
The company has also adorned two of its newest aircraft with livery inspired by traditional ‘Phulkari’ and ‘Chikankari’ embroidery styles, to celebrate the rich culture of Punjab and Uttar Pradesh as part of its Tales of India initiative.
Currently, Air India Express operates 16 weekly flights from Amritsar, connecting directly to three international destinations, namely Bangkok, Dubai and Sharjah. Additionally, it operates 68 weekly flights from Lucknow, connecting directly to six domestic destinations, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Pune, and one international destination, Bangkok. The budget airline also operates 75 weekly flights from Pune and 40 weekly flights from Surat.
