Marking a major upgrade in luxury and service, India’s largest international carrier Air India has introduced its A350-900 aircraft on nonstop flights from Delhi to New York’s John F Kennedy International Airport.
In a press statement, Air India says that this flagship service, now operational daily, will also extend to Newark Liberty International Airport from January 2, 2025, operating five days weekly.
The airline says that in addition to a spacious premium economy section, the A350 aircraft offers private suites in business class, the only nonstop option between India and the US to provide suites with sliding doors, direct aisle access and lie-flat beds.
It says that economy and premium travellers can expect a modernised cabin and enhanced amenities, including a new inflight entertainment system offering over 3,000 hours of content across 21 languages, including Hollywood and Bollywood films.
Further enhancing comfort, Air India has partnered with Ferragamo and Tumi for exclusive amenity kits and introduced a redesigned serviceware collection that features India-inspired designs.
“The A350 is not just another aircraft for Air India, it is a symbol of the ‘new Air India’ that is emerging through our five-year Vihaan.AI post-privatisation transformation programme. Guest feedback on the aircraft and new customer experience has been exceptionally positive since it was launched on the Delhi-London Heathrow route in September, so we are excited to now bring it to New York. We are also looking forward to commencing the full interior refit of existing aircraft in 2025 which, together with the hundreds of new aircraft on order, will take Air India to new heights,” says Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer, Air India.
The airline says that it will soon launch onboard Wi-Fi on its A350 flights, enabling passengers to stay connected throughout their journey.
With these upgrades, Air India says it aims to attract premium travellers and strengthen India’s connectivity with major global destinations.
