More than 16 Air India flights have been affected across key destinations in Europe and North America
Following growing tensions in the region and the closure of Iranian airspace after Israeli air strikes, Air India and several other international airlines have diverted or returned multiple flights to ensure the safety of passengers.
More than 16 Air India flights have been affected across key destinations in Europe and North America including London, New York, Frankfurt, Chicago, Washington, and Toronto.
Due to the volatile situation, some flights were returned to their point of origin. For instance, AI129 (Mumbai to London Heathrow) and AI119 (Mumbai to New York) both returned to Mumbai mid-journey.
This disruption comes just a day after a tragic incident where a London-bound Air India flight crashed shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad airport, killing 241 of the 242 passengers and crew on board. A number of people on ground are also reported dead as the plane crashed into a hostel.
